This workshop provides teachers with an overview of the instruction practices required for social and emotional learning. They are introduced to positive and educational psychological theories and are given practical advice about:

  • choosing teaching strategies that promote the development of social and emotional competencies;

  • integrating social and emotional competencies across all subject areas; and

  • embedding the elements of social and emotional learning across the school.

Participants will be given practical action plans so that they may introduce SEL to their classroom the next day using a variety of resources and ideas.

Teacher Wellbeing (1 hour)

Teachers are better role models for their students when they are thriving themselves. After years of studying wellbeing theories, I have developed a program for teachers so that they may look after themselves, in order to support their students.

Based upon the foundations of positive psychology theory, the program will guides teachers through the steps you need to improve your wellbeing by knowing themselves, working together, and knowing the work.

Also available as an online course.

Parent Engagement Seminar (1 hour)

Raising caring, confident, capable children at school AND at home.

In order for a Social and Emotional Learning Program to be effective, it is vital that the school community is involved, and that the messages at school and at home are the same. Schools and carers can work together to support the resilience and wellbeing of all students and their families.

My parent seminar provides parents with

  • information about how to support the development of social and emotional skills;

  • practical strategies to guide their children through challenges they face, such as bullying, making friends and being engaged at school; and

  • is based upon the 7 Steps to Thrive framework and conversation prompts.
