The Little Refugee (discussion questions)

On Instagram (@rose.pennington.education) I'm sharing my favourite quality children's books along with discussion questions to develop the social and emotional competencies that are associated with the books.

The Little Refugee by Anh Do, Suzanne Do and Bruce Whatley.

How is the boy in the story different from you?

How is he the same as you?

Close your eyes and imagine what it would be like to leave your school and move to another country where they didn’t speak English. How would you like the other children to act around you? What wouldn’t you like?

What is one thing you could do tomorrow at school for someone who might feel like they are different from anyone else? Are there any reasons why it might be hard to do that? (they might be embarrassed)

Why should we do things for others that might feel difficult? (Because we should treat people the way we would like to be treated.)
